Prison Good Time Not Being Given To Inmates

May 7, 2011

Defendant's sentenced to prison should be forewarned that the Illinois Department of Corrections is currently not granting inmates the standard 6 months merritorious good time.  Most prison sentences receive 50 / 50 good time, also known as day for day credit.  On top of that, inmates had routinely been granted and additional 6 months merritorious good time off of the 50% that remained.   Any Defendant looking at a possible prison sentence should delay their case until the merritorious good time program is re-instated.
